BLUFFCO iNDUSTRiES was founded in 2025 to explore and incorporate all possible solutions to the many sorts of challenges that persist within the communities of Madison County, North Carolina.
Named after our “mother mountain,” Bluffco is born to redirect the abilities of its founder - including design, fabrication, marketing, media production, (web) communication, logistics and plain ol’ “roll-up-your-sleeves” hard work - to help our mountain neighbors and businesses recover, rebuild and thrive in a quickly evolving new-world economy.
For over four decades, John Kretschmer traveled to globe as a production designer for motion pictures and television. “Art department folks are well-suited to face unknown challenges, in unknown lands by incorporating the local talents and resources to accomplish amazing results,” says John, “and now it is time to utilize this very fortunate experience within the bio-region to achieve the same.”

“WHISKY GIRL” early concept - Hot Springs, NC
Objective to assist new owner of C1 restaurant property to visualize their own ideas for a “general store” market concept for the space.
PHASE I - Land clearing, shallow dig and rock wall - COMPLETED 05/2020
PHASE II - Deep dig, monk spill over, french drains, land grading and leveling - COMPLETED 9/2021
PHASE III - Retaining wall (158 Lance Ave) rock wall rehab, add waterfall feature - PENDING
FROG LEVEL POND PROJECT - Hot Springs, NC
Objective to rehabilitate creek-and-spring-fed marsh, to improve drainage, and to create terra firma for two adjacent home lots situated on the AT in the Town of Hot Springs. The solution features a 100 sq ft, 6-foot-deep pond that provides water control, wildlife support and swimming.
